STORYTELLER & CREATIVE

Wendy J. Henkelman

There's always a story worth telling...

For as long as I can remember, my dream has been to tell people's stories.

To share journeys and adventures and even the life of people with others. . .  What's unique about many of the stories I am drawn to share; most of the moments spent learning their stories haven't actually been ON the Mountaintop, along side final moments next to the hospital bed; at the courthouse for the final verdict; or next to a friend when the phone rang with the news.  Most of the time it was IN the moments after the trials, through the valley, or after the long-haul when I've been blessed to hear just pieces of the story.  However, to hear and learn life's stories of the people I get to do life actually with, has allowed me to share in the journey with these special friends.  I have gotten to see they each have something worth sharing with the world. And I believe it's in the sharing of their stories others will be inspired to stay in their own story; to keep living bravely and authentically before the world they face. And perhaps even their stories are waiting to be told so YOU could be one of the ears to hear.

I call myself a Storyteller and Creative. Essentially I'm a 'Producer' but I specialize in helping nonprofits and organizations tell their stories better through events and videos. More recently, however, I fell in love with writing and the beauty behind putting words on a page to communicate a compelling message with an audience you might not ever get in front of.  To me, my mission is to be a Voice for the Voiceless. To Communicate stories of HOPE in this broken world we call home.  Whether this is found in writing, cinematography, or events.

Erwin McManus says it well: "We all have, if only as a quiet whisper, a voice within our souls calling us to awaken our creative essence."

My Creative essence is in storytelling.  If a picture is worth a thousand words, what more is a story worth? Think about the story you want to tell with your life.  When making big decisions?  When recovering from making the wrong decision?  When living the day to day and going from here to there? I believe we long to see the impossible made possible. The hope restored. Lives and people redeemed; because in essence, those stories spur us on towards hope.  The idea that our own situation will work out even better than we can imagine.  Between the ups and downs of life, we add work and family, and habits and hangups, maybe even a few bruises; and while laughter and joy may sprinkle our lives for a season or season our lives throughout the journey; I bet more than a handful would agree: Life is hard. It's easy to put on a front like we 'all have it together' but even I can say; when I hear a story that resonates with my story or deep inside my being, I come undone.  "THAT'S MY STORY"  somehow hope bubbles.

I WANT to BELIEVE many of life's situations can be redeemed!  I believe people want to find hope in this too. I believe this will be what compels us to keep seeking stories.

Perhaps its not just their story that remains untold.  Perhaps yours does too...
